Solo Exhibition

23 November – 21 December 2006
The Society Hall, Dubai

The first time I saw a work by ‘Khalid Al Banna’ was at one of the Emirates Fine Art Society’s exhibitions at the Sharjah museum. It covered an entire wall, and was painted in black and white. Approaching the wall, I noticed that the work was done directly on the wall that it was also a collage.

That which attracted me from a distance, was the diversity of the visual reading, which meant that the whole wall could be transformed into an idea open to interpretation without any school art reference.

This is what the abstraction helped in overall. There are more aspects that could be caught. This desolvation catching let to limit an integrated visual presence from the fresco which may sign, given some quietude when reading it, to his intellectual type in treating with his state of being while composing by painting or the (collage) on the surface. It is a complete visual enjoyment absent from the eye.
